I have done lots of research on rhinestones. What I use is G-S cement. You can get these at craft stores near the rhinestone, or jewelry beads.

Its a wet type of glue. If there are prongs there is no need to use glue. I have never found a way to repair a rhinestones backs when the gold paint has been scratched, it just has to be replaced with a new one.

Also, prongs are very tough, but please use your best judgement on pulling them back. If there are prongs there is no need to use glue.

Good luck with repairing your rhinestone jewelry.
